Delta sleep is our deepest state of sleep, and most vital. It is where tissue growth and repair occurs, and when energy is restored.
Unfortunately, some people don't produce enough Delta waves, which means that they may experience disturbed sleep, or, upon waking, they don't feel properly rested because they haven't spent enough time in the stages of deep sleep.
Naturally, as we age, Delta production decreases and we spend less time in the restorative deep sleep stage (N3), which helps slow the aging process and gives us more energy for the waking day.
One study involving 24 participants (split into control and experimental groups) showed that listening to binaural beats prior to sleep can increase the time spent in the Non Rem 3 (deep sleep) stage.
Another study in Elite soccer players showed an improvement in sleep quality and post-sleep state.
In summary, eight weeks of auditory stimulation with binaural beats improved perceived sleep quality and the post-sleep state of athletes.
With this in mind, we have designed Blissful Sleep to entrain your brain with Delta wave frequencies (at 0.5 Hertz) to help you sleep deeper and feel more rested and energetic.
In addition to promoting the production of Delta waves, the music (instrumentation) is tuned to a frequency of 174 Hertz, a frequency that is said to promote a natural anaesthetic effect – making Blissful Sleep the perfect solution for deep relaxation and calming the mind.
Regular use of Blissful Sleep will promote better sleep and increase Delta wave production for deeper cycles of restorative sleep.
Why You Need Better Quality Sleep
The National Institutes of Health suggests adults need 7-8 hours per night, but according to data, nearly 30% of adults report an average of less than 6 hours of sleep per day.
The primary reason for this lack of sleep is undoubtedly because of lifestyle, but is also due to not being able to sleep properly.
- 30 to 35% of adults have brief symptoms of insomnia.
- 15 to 20% have a short-term insomnia disorder, which lasts less than three months.
- 10% have a chronic insomnia disorder, which occurs at least three times per week for at least three months.
Studies by the National Sleep Foundation have shown that poor sleep can have a negative impact on your health, increasing your risk of depression and high blood pressure. It also can lower your quality of life.
Common symptoms of include:
- Fatigue
- Inability to focus or concentrate
- Poor memory
- Mood disturbance
- Daytime sleepiness
- Low motivation or energy
- Increased errors or accidents
How to Use Blissful Sleep
You can listen to Blissful Sleep up to 1-2-hours before bed to promote the production of Delta waves for long, restful sleep. Simply slip on your headphones, close your eyes and turn out the lights. Within minutes you’ll feel deeply relaxed and start to slowly swirl and drift away.
If you want to improve your sleep naturally, listening to our music for sleep before bed, or in bed, will promote the production of Delta waves in your brain and result in healthier, more restorative sleep stage cycles.
*Note: Blissful Sleep and our Deep Sleep meditation will produce the same desired effect but have different soundscapes. We recommend experimenting with both and alternating between the two.
This recording will cause you to feel extremely relaxed and reduce the performance of cognitive functionality. We therefore advise that you DO NOT listen to this recording while driving or operating machinery.
