Delta sleep is our deepest state of sleep, and most vital. It is when tissue growth and repair occurs, and when energy is restored.

A 2022 study which evaluated the brain wave entrainment effect of binaural beats for relieving the symptoms of insomnia, in subjects between 20 and 59 years of age, concluded the following:
After listening to music with BB for two weeks, the decrease in the beta power (high frequency waves) was more noticeable than after using music-only devices when participants listened to music in the laboratory. A study involving 24 participants (split into control and experimental groups) showed that listening to binaural beats music prior to sleep can increase the time spent in the Non Rem 3 (deep sleep) stage.
A 3-Hz binaural beat on a 250-Hz carrier tone can be used to modulate neural activity by enhancement of power of delta activity; and to modulate sleep stage by decreasing N2 duration, inducing the N3 stage, and increasing N3 duration without sleep disturbance and sleep fragmentation.
